Launching the First Academic Year at the College of Sharia and Law at Thamar University

A New Beginning Towards Academic Excellence

■ Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Bahla, the Dean of the College, inaugurated the first academic year at the College of Sharia and Law in Al-Quds Hall.

He announced the start of the 1446, 2024 academic year and welcomed new students accepted to the college for this year. The University Rector spoke emphasizing that the College of Sharia represents a significant and long-awaited achievement for the governorate.

This decision was made after consulting with judges in Dhamar Governorate, the Minister of Justice, the General Attorney, and relevant stakeholders at Sana'a University, to benefit from their experience and expertise in this field and to identify our nation's needs in this important specialization.

The University Rector added that this specialization will benefit its students in this world and the hereafter. He expressed his confidence in the college's staff and the intelligence of its students, and hoped that the college's graduates would be like the judges of Dhamar Governorate who preceded them, holding the highest positions and handling the most important cases.

Dr. Al-Haifi pointed out the importance of the college's inauguration coinciding with the anniversary of the Prophet's birthday, stressing the need for all college staff to adhere to their faith identity and university dress code.

From his part, the college dean welcomed the students and congratulated them on the approaching anniversary of the Prophet's birthday and the national holidays. He expressed his thanks to the University Rector for his great interest and continued support for the college. He expressed his hope that this college would be an important addition to Thamar University, which has a rich national, scientific and academic history, emphasizing that students will be the focus of the college's attention and its goal.

Judge Yasser Al-Emdi, the President of the Criminal Court in Dhamar Governorate, spoke about the significance of the inauguration coinciding with the anniversary of the Prophet's birthday, urging students to exert their efforts and raise their spirits to achieve the highest academic standards.

He added that the opening of the college in Dhamar was a dream realized by Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, addressing the students, "I have great hope in you, that you will be an important addition and renewers of justice."

The celebration concluded with a performance of several hymns commemorating the Prophet's birthday, performed by the Fatiyat Al-Masirah band.

The inauguration was attended by Judge Abdullah Al-Usta, the General Secretary of the University, Dr. Mohammed Hutram, the Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hadi, his Deputy for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hamoud Al-Mulaiki, the Cultural Consultant of the University Rector, Mr. Hassan Al-Mawshki, the General Secretaries of the Faculties of Sharia and Law and Education, and a number of faculty members from both faculties.
