The General Director of Al-Wihdah University Hospital Receives the General Director of Dhamar Health to Coordinate Enhanced Epidemic Control Efforts

■ Professor Abdulsalam Al-Miqdad, the General Director of Al-Wihdah University Hospital in Maabar, Dr. Tariq Al-Khaiwani, the General Director of the Public Health and Population Office in Dhamar Governorate. This visit reflects institutional cooperation and integration in the health sector.
During the visit, Dr. Al-Miqdad, accompanied by Dr. Al-Khaiwani, the Director of Financial Affairs, and a number of hospital leaders, inspected the epidemic control centers affiliated with the University Hospital in Maabar and reviewed the efforts made to monitor and treat measles and watery diarrhea (cholera) cases.
A number of specialized departments and centers within the hospital were also visited to review the progress of work and the measures taken to combat the spread of epidemics, most notably measles and cholera in light of the escalating health challenges facing some districts.
Dr. Al-Khaiwani expressed his deep appreciation for the management of Al-Wihdah University Hospital and its medical and technical staff, praising the high level of preparedness and professional response he saw at the epidemic control centers despite limited resources and significant pressures. He emphasized that the hospital represents a benchmark model at the governorate level, calling for enhanced support and cooperation with its leadership.
From his part, Professor Abdulsalam Al-Muqdad welcomed Dr. Al-Khaiwani, the General Director of the Health Office, appreciating this visit, which reflects cooperation and coordination with the university hospital, one of the largest and most important university health facilities in the central region of Yemen.
Dr. Al-Miqdad explained that the University Hospital, which houses thousands of students from the College of Medicine, the College of Medical Sciences, and the Institute of Continuing Education at Thamar University, represents an academic and training resource for the national medical staff, in addition to its role in providing treatment services to the people of the governorate and neighboring governorates. He pointed to the most prominent challenges facing the hospital, most notably the lack of logistical support and the urgent need to increase the stock of medicines and supplies for epidemic emergency centers.
During the visit, the two sides stressed the importance of continuing the integrated partnership between Al-Wihdah University Hospital and the Health Office in Dhamar, which contributes to raising the efficiency of the local health system and rapid response to emergencies and epidemics, especially in light of the successive health crises and accumulated development challenges that the country is witnessing as a result of the aggression and the ongoing blockade for a decade.
