Thamar University organizes an official visit for a delegation from Jablah University to Al-Wihdah University Hospital

■ Within the framework of enhancing academic and medical cooperation between Yemeni universities, and as a step that reflects ongoing coordination, and at the kind invitation Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, Thamar University organized today an official visit for the Rector of Jablah University for Medical and Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Matari, and his accompanying delegation to Al-Wihdah University Hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Thamar University in the city of Maabar, in the presence of a number of academic and administrative figures from the two universities.
The delegation was received by a number of university and hospital leaders, headed by Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice Rector of Thamar University for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Miqdad, the Director of Al-Wihdah University Hospital, Prof. Dr. Amal Al-Mujahid, the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, and Dr. Hamoud Al-Mawshki, the Chairman of Dhamar General Hospital Authority.
The delegation accompanying the Rector of Jablah University included Dr. Sadiq Al-Muhani, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hittar, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Dr. Murad Al-Dhurasi, the Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Fouad Alwan, and Imran Shamsan, in addition to a group of medical and academic leaders from the two universities.
During the visit, the delegation toured a number of medical departments and modern facilities at Al-Wihdah University Hospital and reviewed the progress of work and available equipment. The possibility of twinning between the hospital and Jablah University Hospital was also discussed, with the aim of exchanging experiences and enhancing cooperation in the medical and research fields.
In a statement, Prof. Abdullah Al-Matari confirmed that this visit was the culmination of several months of coordination with Prof. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, and the leaders of the two universities, praising the efforts of Prof. Amal Al-Mujahed, the Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences, and her Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies Dr. Tawfiq Al-Sanbani, in strengthening this cooperation and expressed his admiration for what he saw of distinguished medical cadres and modern equipment in the hospital, stressing that work will be done to sign an official agreement between the two universities to activate medical and educational cooperation, in coordination with Prof. Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Miqdad, the General Director of Al-Wihdah University Hospital, and Dhamar General Hospital Authority headed by Dr. Hamoud Al-Mawshki.
From his part, Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai confirmed that Thamar University is working according to an ambitious strategy for the period 2025-2030, noting that the direction of the University Rector focuses on implementing the necessary strategies to develop education and scientific research, and he explained that the role of the College of Administrative Sciences was pioneering in analyzing and evaluating the strategic plans of Thamar and Jableh Universities, through supplementary research and assignments implemented by doctoral students in General management.
In turn, Prof. Abdulsalam Al-Miqdad, the Director of Al-Wihdah University Hospital, welcomed the visiting delegation, stressing that Thamar University with its distinguished geographical location, represents an academic and health meeting point for all Yemenis and that the university hospital is an essential part of the university's College of Medicine, which includes medical cadres from various Yemeni governorates.
He also stressed the importance of signing twinning and cooperation agreements with Jablah Hospital and other university hospitals, as this would enrich the health sector, exchange experiences, and enhance academic and medical knowledge between Yemeni universities.
The visit also witnessed the practical presence of a number of researchers in the doctoral programs in public administration and business administration at the College of Administrative Sciences at Thamar University, which reflects the university's interest in involving graduate students in research and applied activities that contribute to the development of the academic and administrative field in Yemen.
This visit comes within the context of efforts aimed at raising the level of health and university services, and strengthening the frameworks of academic and research cooperation, in a way that serves the aspirations of students, academics and the medical community in the country.
