Thamar University and Sana'a University Discuss Developing University Centers and Expanding Their Community Roles

■ In the context of strengthening academic cooperation and exchanging expertise among Yemeni universities, and under the directives of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, the Rector's Assistant of Thamar University for Centers Affairs, Professor Dr. Essam Wasel, met today with his counterpart at Sana'a University, Professor Dr. Zaid Al-Warith. They discussed several topics and issues related to developing the performance of university centers and activating their roles in serving the community.

The meeting addressed the importance of improving the work of the centers and expanding the scope of their services, thereby enhancing the role of universities in addressing community issues and contributing to overcoming the difficulties and challenges facing society, in addition to benefiting from shared experiences and expertise in this field. The two sides also discussed the importance of establishing and developing specialized postgraduate programs at university centers. This would contribute to directing scientific research towards studying the problems and challenges facing the country, finding scientific and practical solutions, and linking postgraduate outputs to development needs and societal requirements.

During the visit, Professor Dr. Essam Wasel, accompanied by the General Secretary of Thamar University, Dr. Mohammed Hutrum, and the directors of the Engineering Consulting Center, Dr. Mohammed Juaim, and the Center for Educational Development and Rehabilitation, Dr. Akram Al-Adwar, at Thamar University, visited several centers at Sana'a University. They learned about their experiences in academic, training, and consulting work, and explored opportunities to benefit from successful experiences and exchange expertise.

The visit also included the laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering at Sana'a University, where the team learned about the nature of the services and technical experiments offered by the faculty. They discussed mechanisms for integration and cooperation between the faculty and the Engineering Consulting Center, as well as identifying areas of mutual services, work mechanisms, and procedures in this field.

This aims to enhance the utilization of available resources and expertise and develop the consulting and engineering services provided to the community. This visit also comes as part of Thamar University's commitment to developing the performance of its centers, enhancing their efficiency, and expanding its academic and community partnerships, thereby contributing to its mission of serving the community and supporting development and scientific research.
