Thamar University Council Holds First Meeting of the 1448 Academic Year, Discusses the Academic Calendar and Several Important Issues

■ As a part of finalizing academic and administrative arrangements for the start of the new academic year, Thamar University Council held its first meeting of the 1448 academic year this morning, chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the University Rector, and attended by council members.

At the beginning of the meeting, the University Rector emphasized the importance of this gathering, which follows the commencement of the new academic year in the university's various colleges and research centers. He noted that the coming period requires redoubled efforts and teamwork to enhance academic, administrative, and research performance, and to elevate the level of educational services provided by the university to its students and staff.

At the beginning of its proceedings, the Council reviewed the minutes of the tenth meeting of the academic year 1447, held on Thu Al-Qa'adah 8 ,1447 AH, corresponding to April 25, 2026. The minutes were discussed, approved, and adopted in accordance with established procedures.

The Council then discussed several important topics on its agenda, most notably the academic calendar for the academic year 1448 (2026/2027), issued by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research.

The Council reviewed the dates and stages of the educational process, including the academic and administrative milestones outlined in the calendar, to ensure the smooth continuation of studies and the educational process according to the approved plans.

The Council also reviewed the proposed study submitted by the General Investment Authority office in Dhamar Governorate regarding investment in the university hospital project. Members discussed the technical, administrative, and investment aspects presented in the study, as well as the project's importance in enhancing the medical, educational, and training services provided by the university. They also discussed its anticipated role in serving the local community and developing the health infrastructure in the governorate.

The council also discussed the cooperation and coordination agreements signed between Thamar University and Al Mahweet University on Thu Al-Qa'adah 27, 1447 (May 14, 2026), which aim to enhance academic, scientific, and research cooperation between the two universities, and to exchange expertise and experiences in a way that contributes to developing institutional performance and achieving common interests.
