A meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Al-Haifi discusses the steps of installing solar energy systems in a number of University buildings

■ A meeting at Thamar University, chaired by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University discussed today the executive plan for installing solar-based electrical systems in a number of University buildings.

At the meeting, in the presence of Engineer. Mounir Al-Marowani, the General Director of the Office of the Supreme Council for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Governorate, Engineer. Khalid Ba Salamah, the Representative of the United Nations Program for Project Services (UNOPS), the Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, and the Representatives of Ibn Al-Ashwal Foundation for Rrade and Contracting.

Dr. Al-Haifi expressed his thanks to the guests for their interest in the University and their understanding of the challenges it faces, especially with the interruption of the electrical network in the country and the high electricity costs, as the University suffers from interruptions, constant problems with electricity power and to purchase electric power from the private sector which affects its budget significantly.

The Rector of the University called on the funder of the project to put a second stage for the installation of solar energy systems in additional buildings that were excluded in the first stage.

This step aims to strengthen environmental sustainability at the University and reduce dependence on the public electricity grid which contributes to reducing the financial burden on the University.

The meeting was attended by the Project Manager, Mr. Yaqoub Al-Buraihi, the Commercial Director of Ibn Al-Ashwal Foundation for Trade and Contracting, Mr. Mohammed Al-Ashwal, a number of Engineers specialized in Civil, Construction, Electrical Fields, and the General Directors of Finance, Media, and Public Relations at Thamar University.
