An expanded meeting that included the Leadership of the Governorate and the Presidents of Thamar Universities Thamar University Media/Jamal Al-Bahri / October 18, 2023 ■ An expanded meeting was held today with the Leadership of the Governorate, the Heads of Public and Private Universities in Dhamar which supporting for the Palestinian cause and supporting for the Al-Aqsa Flood operation were discussed. At the meeting, the Governor of the Governorate welcomed the attendees and spoke about the importance of holding such meetings in which Higher Education Institutions in the Governorate interact with the fateful issues of the nation. This was pointed out by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University who pointed to the vital role of Universities in raising awareness and raising community awareness to participate in vigils and marches in support of Palestine which is a focus of our national and ideological cause. Prof. Al-Haifi stressed the importance of forming a unified coordination committee for all Thamar Universities to organize the contribution of Higher Education Institutions in the Governorate in supporting the Palestinian cause and participating in the main events held in Dhamar Governorate. From his part, the General Supervisor of the Governorate, Mr. Ahmed Al-Dhurrani stressed the need to raise awareness among University students of fateful issues and in the face of the soft and criminal wars waged by the forces of brutality and decay on the Arab and Islamic nations in several countries including the Gaza Strip. During the meeting, the Rectors of Al-Saeeda, Al-Hikma, Al-Quran and Genius Universities, the Community College at Al-Darb, the Applied College of Sciences, the Industrial Technical Institute and the Consultant of the president of Thamar University for Cultural Affairs and Automation also spoke about the importance of participating in events supporting the Gaza Strip and the axis of resistance. The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs, the General Secartary of the University, the Consultant of the Rector of the University for Cultural Affairs, in addition to the Deans of Colleges, their Deputies, Heads of Scientific Departments, the General Secartary of the University, his Assistants and a number of General Directors and Directors of Departments at the University. At the end of the meeting, they stressed the importance of raising awareness of the issue and boycotting American and Israeli goods and the need to participate in marches in support of Palestine. It was also determined at ten o'clock on Monday Morning as the date for going out in a joint march that gathers members and students of all Universities, Colleges and Institutes in Dhamar Governorate. The attendees unanimously chose Prof. Mohammed Al-Haifi as the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for coordination among all Institutions operating in the Higher Education sector in Dhamar Governorate.
