Thamar University Medical Clinics to the Media of University: This year we conducted examinations for 2550 students

■ The General Director of Medical Services at the University, Mr. Abdulhameed Al-Namer explained that his administration has been providing its services to students and University employees for about fifteen years, and that he has been working as the General Director of student services since 2015, and this year his administration conducted the necessary medical examinations for 2550 students who were admitted this year, under the supervision and patronage of the Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs.

Speaking to the University's Media, Al-Namer pointed out that the tests include a number of infectious diseases, including: liver virus tests, pulmonary tuberculosis, hearing and vision, and assessing the student's physical safety, noting that additional tests were being conducted for foreign students, including: HIV testing.

He pointed out the importance of these examinations becoming periodic, and that they should be returned at the beginning of each academic year, as one of the students may become infected during the summer holidays, and return to the study seats carrying an infectious disease which may pose a danger to his colleagues, teaching staff, and career staff at the University.

He added that his department provides Medical Care throughout the year, especially during the period of sports activities, and as a result of the shortage of Cadres and Specialists, the most skilled teaching assistants from the Faculty of Medical Sciences are being used.

As for the cases whose medical tests show their injury, Al-Namer confirmed that they are referred to Alwihdah University Educational Hospital in Maabar, so that those cases receive Medical Care, and the student is returned to the University classes under an official memorandum from Alwihdah University Hospital in Maabar confirming his full recovery, praising the cooperation of the General Director of the hospital, Dr. Mohammed Al-Dhali who takes care of the cases sent from the General Directorate of Medical Services in particular.

Al-Namer spoke about his administration's interest in expanding its services to include all students and University employees suffering from chronic diseases such as stress and diabetes, as well as providing centralized permanent emergency medical services inside the University Campus, pointing out that the administration was providing such services and hosting specialized doctors before its equipment was seized and destroyed.

Speaking about the equipment, Al-Namer explained that the previous equipment was arbitrarily detained in the building that was rented outside the University and was not released until it was completely destroyed, and the administration still hopes from the University leadership to provide care to the General Department of Medical Services to be able to provide better services and permanent care for University students and its affiliates, including the provision of additional offices and appropriate equipment through associations or supporters.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Kamil, who manages the Medical Services Laboratory during the admission and registration period, pointed out that the tests that are carried out are necessary, and are carried out with the highest standards, and the best types of solutions are used to accomplish them with a high degree of standardization, and that all cases of infectious diseases detected among students were re-examined outside the University in the most important laboratories, and the results are always identical to the tests in
side the University.
