Thamar University signs a cooperation and coordination agreement with the University of Science and Technology Thamar University Media / Ameen Al-Nehmi / September 10, 2023 Thamar University and the University of Science and Technology signed today a joint coordination and cooperation agreement, within the framework of enhancing means of cooperation between the two Universities, and the exchange of knowledge and experience between Faculty members and students. The agreement aims at establishing the appropriate general framework through which cooperation between Thamar University and the University of Science and Technology is coordinated, exchanging short visits for Faculty members, and presenting the results of joint Studies and Research at Conferences, Seminars, Technical Workshops, and other Scientific Activities held by the parties. The agreement signed by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, Rector of Thamar University, and The Rector of the University of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Adel a Al-Mutawakil, on the exchange of visits between officials at the two Universities in order to review and exchange information and experiences in the field of Higher Education Administration and Community Service, as well as the exchange of student visits to various colleges, departments and centers, the publication of Faculty members of the two Universities in scientific journals available to both parties without publishing fees, work on a joint issue of a refereed scientific journal, and the formation of an editorial board from both parties, in addition to conducting joint basic and applied scientific research on topics of common interest, joint contribution to scientific research with other parties, joint cooperation in the realization of manuscripts, authorship, translation and scientific publication, in addition to and provide the libraries of the two Universities with some scientific publications and references, as available and possible. It included the formation of joint committees to compose University t Textbooks in joint programs, the preparation of Educational programs, the exchange of study plans, curricula, University teaching methods, related regulations, regulations and provisions, the exchange of Educational materials that would help promote the Educational process, coordination to develop the capabilities of laboratories and use them for the benefit of the Educational process, especially in the fields of Mechatronics and Civil Engineering. The agreement touched upon the establishment of a joint cooperation relationship between the Scientific Research Centers of the two Universities to exchange books, publications and publications annually or quarterly, as well as the exchange of experiences and knowledge, especially those related to community service and ways to strengthen and develop relations and links with local communities to serve the National Public in the comprehensive development fields. The agreement stressed the coordination to form and establish a joint digital repository for the two Universities and open the way for other Universities to join the digital repository, as well as cooperation and coordination to develop the capabilities of existing laboratories and learning resources to serve the Educational process of both parties, in addition to cooperation between the two Universities in the establishment of specialized scientific conferences in the common academic fields of the two Universities. The agreement included the opening of joint postgraduate programs (Postgraduate Diploma / Master and PhD) in various disciplines approved by the two parties, granting special discounts in postgraduate programs to qualify the assistant Faculty in accordance with secondary understandings made between the parties, encouraging joint scientific supervision of Master's theses and Doctoral dissertations and participation in the membership of discussion committees, and cultural exchange for postgraduate scholarships to qualify the assistant faculty at the two Universities. The agreement dealt with facilitating the provision of expertise of Faculty members to contribute as external examiners for The Bachelor's stage, as examiners, as debaters, as supervisors or external debaters for Master's and doctoral theses and within the scientific production evaluation committees to promote faculty members, cooperation in the development of e-learning and distance Education programs, exchange of quality expertise and evaluation of academic programs between the two parties. Also, it pointed to participating in the organization and holding of Specialized Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Training Programs that are agreed upon by both parties, coordinating to determine these activities, their dates, topics, all requirements, and the duration of each, exchanging invitations on a regular basis to attend Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, and Training Programs of common interest, and using specialists and experts from both parties in their organization and technical work, as well as organizing academic, research, development, training, and cultural activities to achieve the desired goals efficiently and effectively. It stressed the cooperation between the two parties to coordinate various programs, ensure quality in the Educational Process and build common standards that the two universities seek to organize and open the way for other public and Private Universities to join the Coordinating Council for quality assurance. The signing of the agreement was attended by the Vice-Rector of Thamar University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research prof. Dr. Abdulkarim Esmail Zabaibah, and the General Secretary of the University of Science and Technology, Dr. Faisal Hazza Qaid.
