The local authority in Dhamar Governorate and the General Authority for Land, Survey and Urban Planning, signed a memorandum of understanding with Dhamar University, to prepare the urban development strategy for the governorate and update the general plan for the city of Dhamar.

The memorandum was signed by the Governor of Dhamar, Muhammad Nasser Al-Bukhaiti and the President of the General Authority for Land and Survey, Judge Abdulaziz Mujahid Al-Ansi, and the President of Dhamar University, Dr. Talib Taher Al-Nahari.

During the signing, Al-Bakhiti stressed that preparing the strategy and updating the general plan is a positive step in development and preserving the city’s organization in various fields.

He pointed out the importance of landing urban plans to prevent random construction, especially in light of the expansion that the city is witnessing, indicating that delaying the plans has caused many problems, including the encroachment on agricultural lands in violation.

He pointed to the importance of cooperation between the university and the authority in preparing studies and urban plans and exchanging experiences in the engineering and urban fields.

For his part, the University's president, Al-Nahari, explained that the university, through the College of Engineering, will undertake the implementation of the project by preparing studies and detailed plans and updating the general plan of the city in a modern scientific way in line with the development witnessed by the urban side.

He emphasized the university's readiness to provide scientific consultations, prepare and implement developmental and urban plans and studies, in a way that contributes to strengthening development efforts. While the head of the authority confirmed the approval of 15 new neighborhood units within the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding to prepare the urban development strategy for Dhamar Governorate.

He pointed out that the authority is making efforts to contribute to comprehensive development, stressing the importance of signing this memorandum in updating the general plan of the city and limiting random construction and existing problems in this aspect in various governorates.

In turn, the Director of the Land Authority Branch in the Governorate of Jassar pointed out the importance of preparing an urban development strategy as a preliminary step in distributing the population, organizing construction and pushing the development process in various fields.

The signature was attended by the Assistant Undersecretary of the Land Authority for the Urban Planning Sector, Engineer Sidqi Al-Malsi, the Advisor to the Chairman of the Authority, Dr. Ahmed Yafa'a, Head of the Architectural Engineering Department at Dhamar University, Dr. Muhammad Ja`im, and the Engineering Committee in charge of the Land Authority.
