Master's degree with excellence by Researcher Amal Al-Bekili from the Faculty of Arts, Thamar University Thamar University Media/ Jamal Al-Bahri / November 1, 2023 ■ Researcher Amal Ali Saleh Al-Bekili received today a master's degree with excellence from the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts, Thamar University for her thesis labeled "Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Its Relationship to Social Support Among Displaced Adolescents in the Capital City of Sana'a". The discussion and judging committee consisted of the Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Taha Naji Al-Awbali as a Chairman and External Panelist, Professor of Psychology, Prof. Abdulkarim Zabibah as a Member and Scientific Supervisor, and the Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. LutF Huraish as an Internal Panelist. The discussion and judging committee praised the researcher's efforts, the topic of her dissertation, and her outstanding performance in the discussion. Dr. Abdulkarim Zabibah referred to the importance of this type of studies in all cases, and it is exceptionally important in our country which has been suffering from the scourge of wars for a long time, especially in the last decade where members of society suffered a lot of trauma, tragedies, external displacement, and inside the Yemeni regions, and these events caused widespread cases of PTSD. Dr. Zabibah added that it is necessary to provide care and psychological support to those suffering from PTSD, as the disorder takes an upward trend, the condition worsens, and the treatment process is difficult in the late periods of the trauma and then the type of disorder appears in the form of anxiety has a negative impact on the productivity of the person in his work and on the extent of his acceptance of others. He pointed out that this research is an important addition to the university library and a suitable reference for researchers in the field of psychology. Dr. Zabibah pointed out that care and psychological support should be provided to all people who are exposed to trauma as a result of war displacement in addition to those who have not declared PTSD in order to avoid relapses symptoms that may appear later and the process of dealing with them is difficult, and providing psychological support and care early is necessary to mitigate the impact of trauma on individuals and promote the restoration of psychological and moral stability for them. The public discussion was attended by a number of the University's Academic Leaders, Researchers, Interested and Colleagues of the Researcher.
