The Scientific Journals Council at Thamar University Held its Second Meeting for the Academic Year 1448, Discussing the Development of the Publishing System and the Resumption of Publication of Several Journals

■ The Scientific Journals Council at Thamar University held its second meeting for the academic year 1448, chaired by Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Ismail Zabiba, the Vice-Rector of the University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and attended by the editors-in-chief and directors of the university's peer-reviewed scientific journals. This meeting was held in accordance with the directives of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, aimed at developing scientific journals and raising the level of publishing and scientific research at the university.

At the outset of the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting No. (1), held on January 21, 2026, were reviewed, discussed, and approved. The council then moved on to discuss the progress made by the editorial boards of peer-reviewed scientific journals during the first half of 2026, assessing their performance and the steps taken to develop and streamline the scientific publishing process.

The council also discussed the Open Journal System (OJS) and the potential for utilizing it to enhance the digital transformation of editing, peer review, and publishing processes, thereby improving the efficiency of journals and ensuring they meet modern academic publishing standards.

Furthermore, the meeting reviewed the progress made in reactivating and resuming publication of the University of Thamar Journal for Research and Humanities Studies. The necessary procedures and steps were discussed to restore its regular publication schedule and enhance its scientific content. Finally, the council discussed the progress made in reactivating and launching the Journal of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, including the remaining academic and technical procedures required for its release.

The University's Vice Rector emphasized the importance of continued efforts by editorial boards to develop peer-reviewed scientific journals, enhance the quality of their content and editorial and technical performance, ensure their regular publication, and meet modern scientific publishing standards. This will strengthen Thamar University's presence in academic publishing and serve its scientific research endeavors.

The meeting concluded with several directives and recommendations related to the topics on its agenda, aimed at addressing existing challenges and advancing the development of the university's scientific journal system.
