■ In an academic step to develop postgraduate studies, the Master's Program Approval Committee at the Faculty of Engineering, Thamar University, has completed discussions on the scientific and organizational procedures related to approving several multidisciplinary engineering master's programs. This comes within the framework of the university leadership's directives, represented by Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the University Rector, towards expanding postgraduate programs and strengthening its academic presence in specialized engineering fields. He emphasized the importance of expediting the approval procedures for the new engineering programs, in line with the needs of academic development and the requirements of development, and in implementation of the recommendations of the Council of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research aimed at strengthening postgraduate studies in scientific and applied colleges.
The meeting was held at the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, attended by Professor Abdulkarim Zubaiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and supervisor of the committee, along with Professor Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Quality Center, and Professor Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs. The meeting reviewed the request submitted by the College of Engineering for approval to open several Master's programs in various engineering disciplines.
The proposed programs included a Master of Architecture, as well as Master's programs in Civil Engineering (both academic and professional tracks), encompassing specializations in Construction Engineering, Transportation Engineering (Roads and Communications), Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, and Geotechnical Engineering. This initiative aligns with a scientific approach aimed at expanding specialized fields and providing advanced graduate study opportunities in diverse engineering disciplines.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed the academic program descriptions submitted by the Faculty of Engineering. The scientific and technical aspects of these programs were discussed, and a scientific committee was formed to review the descriptions and complete the necessary procedures for final approval. This committee is chaired by Professor Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Masani and includes Professor Ahmed Ali Al-Akwa, Dr. Fathi Ahmed Al-Shawish, and Dr. Rashid Al-Sanfi.
