■ The Faculty of Engineering at Thamar University witnessed today the discussion of several graduation projects by students in the Civil Engineering Department as a part of the Student Science Week activities for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The discussions took place amidst a strong academic and professional presence, reflecting the importance of the presented projects and their role in addressing engineering issues related to development and infrastructure.
The discussion sessions were held under the patronage of the University Rector, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Fouad Al-Jermouzi, with the follow-up of the Vice Deans for Academic Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Abbas, for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Rashid Al-Sanfi, and for Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Al-Shuraim.
During the discussions, students presented their research and applied projects, which addressed diverse topics in structural design, roads, concrete, and engineering project management. They offered scientific and practical models and solutions aimed at contributing to addressing several challenges facing the engineering sector, reflecting the knowledge and skills they acquired during their years of study.
The discussion sessions were attended by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Rector's Assistant to for Centers Affairs, Professor Dr. Essam Wasel, the University General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Hutrum; as well as a number of faculty members, engineers, and others interested in engineering.
Two scientific committees from the Civil Engineering Department evaluated the projects. The first committee consisted of Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, Dr. Fouad Al-Jermouzi, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Junaid, while the second committee comprised Dr. Abdullah Abbas, Dr. Rashid Al-Sanfi, Dr. Saleh Al-Sanbani, and Dr. Khalid Al-Shuraim.
The discussions were also attended by a number of labor market representatives and specialized engineers, who praised the scientific level of the presented projects. They emphasized the importance of strengthening the integration between engineering education outcomes and labor market needs, thus contributing to the preparation of qualified personnel capable of meeting professional and developmental requirements.
The college leadership affirmed that graduation projects represent one of the most important outcomes of the educational process, as they reflect students' ability to apply theoretical knowledge to address real-world problems and transform scientific ideas into applicable engineering solutions, thereby enhancing the quality of the college's academic output.
These discussions are a part of the efforts of the Faculty of Engineering at Thamar University to promote applied scientific research, develop students' creativity and innovation skills, and prepare engineers who possess the necessary knowledge and experience to actively contribute to development and reconstruction projects and serve the community.
