As a part of Student Science Week, the Faculty of Engineering at Thamar University Discusses Graduation Projects in the Department of Architectural Engineering

■ The Faculty of Engineering at Thamar University continued its sessions to discuss graduation projects for students in the Department of Architectural Engineering as part of the Student Science Week activities for the academic year 2025-2026.
The sessions were held under the patronage of the University Rector, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, and in the presence of a number of academic leaders, representatives from the job market, and those interested in engineering.
The Scientific Committee, in the presence of Professor Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Essam Wasel, the Rector's Assistant for Centers Affairs, and Dr. Mohammed Hutrum, the General Secretary of the University, discussed several architectural projects presented by students of the department.
These projects reflected a high level of scientific and practical training. The discussions, overseen by the Dean of the College, Dr. Fouad Al-Jermouzi, and his deputies for Academic Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Abbas, for Graduate Studies, Dr. Rashid Al-Sanfi, and for Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Al-Shuraim, focused on presenting design concepts and architectural treatments that consider functional, aesthetic, and environmental aspects, and respond to the needs of urban development and the requirements of society.
The discussion committee consisted of Dr. Ahmed Yafaa, Dr. Ashraf Al-Kabsi, Dr. Mohammed Fayez, and Dr. Mohammed Jaim. The discussions addressed the various scientific and technical aspects of the projects, their potential for development, and their practical application. Twenty-one students from the Department of Architectural Engineering participated with 21 graduation projects as part of the Student Science Week program, which aims to develop students' research and applied skills and promote a culture of creativity and academic excellence in various engineering disciplines.
During the discussion sessions, the University Rector Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi emphasized that graduation projects are among the most important indicators of the quality of the educational process, reflecting the extent of knowledge and skills students have acquired throughout their academic journey. He also noted the university's commitment to supporting creativity and innovation and strengthening the alignment of educational outcomes with the needs of society and the job market.
From his part, Dr. Ahmed Yafaa explained that the projects discussed demonstrated a high level of architectural awareness and design thinking among the students, reflecting their ability to utilize academic knowledge in preparing projects that meet professional requirements and modern scientific standards.
The discussion sessions were attended by a number of labor market representatives and specialized engineers, including Engineer Essam Anash and Engineer Talal Kadima, who praised the quality of the presented projects and the importance of involving professional bodies in evaluating engineering education outcomes and strengthening their relevance to practical realities.
