Thamar University Launches Training Course on “Building a System of University Centers” for Institutional Planning and Effective Operation through Labor Market Connections

■ Thamar University launched this morning a training course entitled “Building a System of University Centers: Strategic Planning, Organizational Operation, Classification, and Labor Market Connections.”
The course, organized by the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, is sponsored by Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and will continue for two days with the participation of several university leaders and staff members from the university centers.
At the beginning of the course, the University Rector Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi emphasized the importance of building an integrated system for university centers, based on clear institutional planning, and ensuring that their roles are aligned with the needs of the university and the labor market, thus enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the centers.
From his part, the Rector's Assistant of the University for Centers Affairs, Professor Dr. Essam Hussein Wasel, explained that developing the performance of the centers requires an institutional system based on planning, organization, clear responsibilities, and optimal utilization of available resources to enhance the centers' services and roles.
In turn, the Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Waleed Ahmed Dahya, explained that the course aims to support institutional development and raise the efficiency of university centers by equipping participants with practical tools in planning, operation, monitoring, and evaluation, and linking performance to measurable indicators.
The first day of the training program included three main themes, distributed among the trainers as follows:
Dr. Amer Abdulwahab Al-Sanbani, Theme: Building the Vision, Mission, and Institutional Values: This theme addressed the concept of vision and its characteristics, formulating the institutional mission, and identifying the values and principles governing the center's work, with a practical application in preparing proposals for the vision, mission, and values.
Dr. Sawsan Saif Al-Sayyadi, Strategic Analysis and Goal Setting: This session covered SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), the concept of strategic goals, and their formulation according to SMART criteria, with practical applications of analysis and goal setting.
Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Mujahid, Operational Plan Development for the Center: This session addressed translating strategic goals into actionable initiatives and programs, defining activities, procedures, responsibilities, resources, and timelines, with a practical application in preparing a sample operational plan.
The course included group practical activities, such as developing a vision, mission, and values statement, conducting strategic analysis, formulating goals, and preparing operational plans and performance indicators. The group outputs were then presented, discussed, and feedback exchanged.
The course continues tomorrow, covering the remaining modules of the training program and enhancing the practical aspects of building a system of university centers and developing their institutional performance, in line with classification requirements and labor market relevance.
The inauguration was attended by Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Hutrum, the General Secretary of the University, and Nasser Najad, the General Secretary of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance.
