December 6, 2023 ■ Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University and his Deputies for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Abdulkarim Zabibah, and Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Ansi inaugurated today the annual student activities for the academic year 1445 (2023-2024), under the title of "Al-Aqsa Flood", organized by the General Administration of activities at the University and the University Student Forum. Seventeen poems are competing in this year's poetry competition, including three poems in eloquence and fourteen poems in colloquial poetry. In his speech, the Rector thanked his deputy for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai for the good and promising start, also thanked the organizing and Arbitration Committee and all participants. The president of the University added that attending the celebration organized by the Ministry of Higher Education in the capital Sana'a was one of my priority tasks after assuming my current position as a Rector of Thamar University. I was honored to attend it and I watched the honoring of the winners from Thamar University who achieved great success and won many positions in various competitions. Dr. Al-Haifi continued that at the last honoring ceremony, Thamar University was praised, and it was considered the most fortunate in the honor at that time. He expressed his hope and confidence in the participants for this year, pointing out that they are able to achieve advanced positions, stressing that he directed to provide opportunities and available resources as much as possible He also said that the ball is now in the stadium of the participants, and the contestants to impress us with their creations, stressing that the University's students are the finest sons of Dhamar which is considered the City of Poetry and poets and the City of Science. From his part, Dr. Al-Rifai welcomed the attendees, thanked the Rector of the University and his Vice-Rectors for honoring the opening ceremony with their blessed presence and pointed out the importance of the competition, especially since its title and its destination Palestine is the Heart of Poets, the Beloved of Yemenis, the Holy of Holies, Hearts of Believers, the Issue of Yemenis, the Focus of their Attention, their Concerns, and the Protection of their Dignity which they did not and will not overdo under any threat and for any price that can be paid. From his part, the Head of the Department of Libraries, Printing and Publishing, Dr. Essam Wasel, pointed out the preference of Jihad over the Lord of Palestine, defending the neutrality of Palestine and martyrdom on the soil of Palestine, pointing to the of poets in today's competition and their destination is Palestine and the Flood of Al-Aqsa. In addition, before the start of the competition, the former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Bahla, delivered an opening poem entitled "The Life of the Yemeni Elite", which won the satisfaction, admiration and acclaim of those present.
